I'm so over the top careful when I do mine, I use cling film/tin foil to keep my sections separate and take aages too rinse it all out, only for it to all fade into each other anyway when I wash it (even though I do it in sections!), I've had mine only purple x blue for a couple years now so they fade together pretty nicely but it's still a pain when you want to keep them apart
