Radioactive Antique Series:The Distinct Difference in Radioactive Waves

Before I talk about Antiques, we talk about the distinct difference in radioactive waves

There are many different types of radiation, but i will talk about the two most significant to me.

Alpha radiation is deemed safer than Beta radiation due to its limited penetration capability caused by size and mass.

Alpha particles are larger and heavier than Beta particles, composed of two protons and two neutrons. They can be effortlessly halted by a sheet of paper or a few centimeters of air.

Differing, Beta radiation involves fast-moving electrons or positrons, smaller and lighter than Alpha particles with higher energy levels.

Nevertheless, they still fall short in terms of penetrating power when compared to more hazardous forms like Gamma rays.

Certain radioactive elements like Radium predominantly emit Alpha particles instead of Beta waves during decay processes, making them relatively safer.

Similarly, while uranium can release both alpha and beta radiation depending on isotopes, the majority of its natural radioactivity comes from alpha particle emission.

!!Understanding the characteristics of different radiation types aids in accurately assessing potential risks.!!

ENDING:

I will start my historical series in my next post. i will be going through a list of items and dedicating every post to a different item and the history to that specific radioactive antique.
