Journal Entry #70: 9/03/23 - Post Gameday and Pre-Labor Day

⊹˚₊‧───────────────‧₊˚⊹

This week had a much lighter load, thanks to my improved scheduling abilities. I've also spent more time on the fourth floor (the quiet floor) of the library doing work. Tuesday, I had yet another class cancellation due to my bio professor's children being sick. I should've expected that. Also, during that day, I had to go to my first leadership meeting. It was interesting, and it was nice to see some familiar faces. I'm a little worried about what I've gotten into, as we were told that we could quit now if we wanted. But I want to jumpstart my career, so that was an obvious no from me. Thursday, I went to my school's web dev club for its first meeting. They went over some basics, and also introduced Visual Studio Code to me. It was a little embarrassing knowing I was one of the few who wasn't familiar with VSCode, so I'm spending part of my long weekend adjusting to it. It's funny though, considering I know some basic web dev code. We're currently voting on which project we want to create, and right now the consensus seems to be that we're going to make a rock paper scissors game. However, a runner up project being voted is the interactive to-do list. Although I voted for the rock paper scissors game, I'm fine with any of them! They'd all make a good addition to a portfolio!

I also want to say on Thursday I went to lunch at the dining hall, which I normally don't do. There were so many familiar people there, but it was also extremely busy. I hate extremely busy areas, but I also need to get used to crowds. One thing I learned from being in the dining hall during lunch is that people want to connect. It's in my blood, our blood, to do so. However, it's so easy to convince yourself it's not so.

As for Gameday, it was...interesting. I got there an hour early, but an hour early is an hour too late! I couldn't find a seat, so I decided to watch from one of the ramps that takes you up the stadium. After the first quarter, I decided to go get a pretzel, which I waited for through the second quarter and nearly all of halftime. I quickly wolfed down my pretzel and then went to the other side of the stadium to sit down in seat that I didn't actually purchase because I really do think that my school sold more tickets for the student section than there are seats. Never again. I'll make sure to get there as soon as possible next time! After the game, I participated in our school's famous tradition: tp-ing the trees! It was amazing! The air was buzzing with joy, people, and toilet paper billowing in the air. It was so romantic. I can't wait to do it again! Hopefully my school wins the homecoming game so that I can tp the trees with my family.

Also, I missed the first of the month! I love the changing of the months, I keep seeing "it's the first of the month" posts on Instagram and the like. I only spent about $90 in August, though that amount will likely go up in September. My clothes arrived on Friday, and I'm not sure what to think about them. The leg warmers are comfy, and cute! The skirt's a little weird though. It's made of nylon, so it feels a little cheap and I can't do anything to it: no washing, no drying, no steaming. Although the pieces are for a Halloween costume, I hope to find some other outfits to wear them with. We'll see what I can come up with.

Anyway, I have chores to do, and a break to enjoy.

Tchau,
