Ashley Davis
Born January 31, 1996 in NY. Right from the beginning I was trouble π. Just three days old, I was rushed to Albany by π for a blockage in my stomach. There they performed emergency surgery π§ββοΈ, what they called a Duodenal Atresia. Now, to this day I have a scar going horizontally across the middle of my stomach. I am used to it, and most of my life it didn't bother me until I would have to show someone my stomach or wear a bathing suit, but it's the scar that saved my life, so I'm proud of itπͺ. Since then I had been sick all of my life with various stomach issues, CVS (Cyclic vomiting syndrome), GERD, Acid reflux, IBS, etc.. And I went threw what they called "cycles" all of my childhood through my teenage years. These cycles included me throwing up nonstop for a week to 2 weeks, which led to other problems such as headaches and dehydration, barrets esophagus, tough on my teeth from the constant stomach acid passing through. You could imagine how fun it was π So school was tough, being a normal kid was tough, but my doctor's and parents did everything they could to help me and get to the bottom of it to finally stop it! I'll never forget the countless nights my mother stayed up with me, or rubbed my back near the toilet, cleaned up my messes, made me special drinks/snacks and meals. I'm forever grateful to her for everything she did to comfort me and help me through those times ππ©ββ€οΈβπ© Also my doctor for 10+ years, Dr. Boule. She was the best, so caring and nurturing, always made me feel so important like I was her #1 patient. So I didn't have the most normal childhood but I was still happy and could do things any normal child could with some eating limitations and had to take A LOT of sick daysπ€’. But this was important because it did have such a big impact on my life and where I am today. The brink of it stopped around 17 years old, though I still suffer from IBS and acid reflux, I no longer deal with the "cycles" of which I went through which was one of my biggest goals from the start! And I have my doctor's to thank, and most off, my amazing wondermom. β€οΈΒ
