Guinea pigs are very social animals, requiring attention almost all the time! If you're planning on adopting one, make sure to get a roommate for it, otherwise it will get lonely. Guinea pigs are very active animals, being active for 20 hours a day! Because of this, you'll need a big environment for it to run around in, with some tunnels and places to hide. They are also cautious creatures, hiding very often when met with new smells and sights. Guinea pigs are herbivores, so they have to eat plenty of fruits and veggies! The best options are hay and grass. If you want more info on their diet, Google is free. :)

Last but not least, Guinea pigs are not easy to take care of, they require a lot of maintenance, like food, cleaning their cages, and attention. They should not be considered starter pets as they need more experience to take care of. There are 13 different breeds of guinea pigs, my favorite being the Peruvian Long Hair!
