Backstory
This offical remake of the iconic DOOM 1993 soundtrack while known by many because of its infamously bad port. Its honestly a miracle it ever released, and this soundtrack is even more of an oddity. The story goes that Rebecca Heineman, lead and only developer of the project was being pestered by the director of the project to incessantly add cutscenes to the game. At one point he mentioned having a band, and so to distract him from bothering her, while also fixing the issue of having no soundtrack in the port. She asked him to make the soundtrack, and this is what has been unleashed into the world due to that. If you want more information on this wacky port I highly recommend the video linked below by Stop Skeletons From Fighting;
Review
Being a reimagining of the original 1993 DOOM soundtrack, I believe this album provides an interesting spin on Bobby Princes original vision. While this album doesn't have an official release, the version I listened to flowed very well. The grungy tone fit the overall darker asthetic of the 3DO port very well. Although not my favorite rendition of the soundtrack, this has hit my top 3 at a cool number 2. I won't give you a track by track for this, I recommend going into it by yourself for the full experience or even playing the port it is from 😉
Overall I give this album a 8/10!
