had a spiritual awakening in the Cave of the Wisdom of God

(i originally posted this as a bulletin but decided to immortalise it in a blog!!)

just been to the cave of Agia Sofia/the cave of the wisdom of God in Crete - it's one of the most beautiful places i've ever been to. it's in the east of the island in the mountains. there was a bunch of stairs to climb but it was definitely worth it.

im still an atheist but being there made me feel very spiritually connected. there's a small church area inside filled with paintings, offerings and candles and it made me remember just how beautiful places of worship are, i haven't been to once since i left my Christian school 3.5 years ago. there was a small area to donate and light a candle for a wish so we gave some money and my dad made a wish.

being around this worship made me feel immensely grateful and i wanted someone to thank. while i still dont believe in a higher power it made me want to thank the universe and earth and get closer to it. it's inspired me to practice meditation more and take it more seriously, appreciating the space and people around me. i've always been enchanted by the beauty of everyday and i think taking out a few minutes for meditation will let me feel closer to it :)))
