american guinea pig series

I already have feelings on the japanese guinea pig series of horror films, those feelings being the ones where a woman is just being tortured for the runtime is boring and not worth my time, and ones where they go over the top and cheesy (man who doesn't die, devil doctor woman) are masterpieces in how absurd and fun they are.

I guess it's important to note i'm fairly desensitized to gore and don't see being disturbed as the same thing as being entertained, so entertainment value is far more important to me than how many prosthetics you can cut up

hearing there's an american guinea pig series worries me that it'll only fall into the first category since the fun ones go so underrated, but i feel like i must watch and review them all.

i'll leave reviews on my letterboxd

the first movie was directly inspired by the second JP film, and thus was just boring.

currently just finished the second film, which seems to actually be based on the first og gp film, but missed the point that the first is supposed to be like a weird woman torture fetish film. which makes this one better actually, feels more worth sticking around to see where it goes. it's an absolute drag but the ending is insane. has much more of a point to it.

it's not like... deep but if you saw devils experiment and quit the moment you realized it was just a fetish film then you'll enjoy the fact that this actually has a plot and a purpose behind what's going on

one point against them is how long they are, the og films are much shorter at just above 40 minutes on average, but this one is well over an hour. It's kept my attention through to the end though, which not every movie does.

i'll probably check out the others later
