music genre discourse is so weird

i saw someone saying mcr isnt punk rock. bro what is it then?? like yeah theres some stuff from them that leans more toward pop punk but like. idk man most of their stuff sounds pretty punk rock to me?? i dont get how people do the categorizing of genres, im both autistic and have bad hearing so i dont really see much stuff that might be indicators?? idk maybe im just a poser lawl...... joking
