batman

movie & comic
i recently watched the 2022 batman film and hmm, most i can say is i didn't get the hype then, still don't get it now!
it was a completely okay movie. filmography was great for the most part aside from the more generic and safe film shooting choices and the plot was alright; there were a lot of things i disliked about it since sometimes it kinda felt like i was being talked down to because they kept repeating things the viewer was previously aware of but honestly it might be because i'm not in the target demographic (honestly i imagine its target to be teenagers around 15 to 17 years old...).
my interest was piqued about watching it solely because of the fuss around the characters of batman and the riddler and knowing the internet the relationship (more like dislike for one another) between them would be completely different to what happens in the actual plot of the movie.
not saying it's wrong to deviate from canon but i had a hunch that a movie taking itself so seriously wouldn't be making the supposed villian of the film be obsessed with batman but surprisingly it was slightly accurate.
after finishing it and telling all my thoughts on the film (which by the way is 3 hours long... i didn't expect that) to my bff, talking about both the things i liked and the things i disliked, the latter having more contents in it lol, he suggested i read the riddler year one comic cause i'm the only one of the two with context from the movie and it was written by paul dano himself and that sounded interesting since we both enjoy his acting work.
it was rather short with there only being around 5 issues (where i read it at least) but it was honestly very nice, i wouldn't have imagined an actor to be interested in the writing part of a piece of media because honestly, as an artist myself there's plenty of things i don't like about making a story or characters lol.
my conclusion is that i heavily disliked movie riddler since his schtick of being a "weird little eccentric guy" got tiring even if he was in the movie the least, but the comic version even if i also disliked things about it, had more going on for him and it also ended up making me a little pissed that paul dano didn't get that much scenes to act his rendition of the character in other than like the aslyum and diner one. i don't think i'll follow endeavors involving dc any longer because doing only this has fried my brain a little and i need a break...

song i recommend today:
