japanese volitional form

Currently studying so....

The volitional form is used for multiple grammar points in Japanese.

  • To suggest a plan with a close friend, casual of ましょう。

  • To talk about our resolutions/goals with volitional + と思っています。

To change a verb to a volitional form there are three rules depending on the verb

  1. るverbs: drop る add よう
  2. うverbs: drop final う add おう。
  3. iregular verbs:来る→来よう する→しよう

now to say that we intend to go to Kyoto next year (I'll highlight where the volitional verb will go.):

来年京都に行こうと思います。

thats all i got 🤷.
