which music subculture do i belong to?

what does it mean to belong to a music subculture? this is not going to be the question that I am answering, but rather the question that I am asking.

all alternative subcultures come with three key items: the music, the uniform, and the ideals. in order to be considered a part of a subculture, you must listen to the music and agree with the ideals, the uniform is almost always optional.

a lot of people can consider themselves to be goth, emo/scene, punk, etc. because they look the part, agree with the ideals, and they listen to the music. posers consider themselves to be a part of a subculture because they look the part, but don't listen to the music, they "listen to the music" but they really listen to fellow posers. for example, people say they're goth but their favorite "goth" artist is lil peep. another thing that posers are known for is listening to the music, and dressing the part, yet they completely disagree with the ideals of the subculture.

so, keeping all of this information in mind, where am I?

first off, I've never considered myself to be a part of a subculture. partially because I've never listened to mostly one genre of music, I have always mixed and matched. recently (in the last 2 years or so) I've started to dress more alternatively, leading people to want to put me in a category. which in turn has led me to want to put myself in a category and has me wondering, what am I?

lots of people consider me to be punk, which I understand. I am known to wear liberty spikes (hence the name "spikey"), I go to a lot of punk shows, love punk music, and agree with punk ideals. I check off all three key items of a subculture, but I check off all three key items in a lot of subcultures. plus... it's not as simple as that.

what a lot of alternative subcultures have in common are two ideals that I cannot relate to; s3x and dr0gs. it's not that I disagree with the acceptance of s3x and dr0gs, but rather that I feel disconnected from any alternative subculture because I don't do either.

as an ace person, it's hard to find spaces where I feel completely included, especially as a teenager, because s3x is, obviously, a big thing. in alternative media, s3x and s3xual relationships are welcomed. scroll for a bit when looking up "emo" on Pinterest and you get things that say "I <3 Emo Boys" or pictures of emo couples.

I don't participate in drugs cause they're not my cup of tea, nothing more special than that.

here comes the part where YOU can help ME out.

give me your opinion. what do you think of this? do you think I should consider myself punk? emo? scene? do you need more information? a part 2? do you think I should give up my hunt for the perfect "me" subculture? please feel free to comment and give me your thoughts.

lots of love, spikey :p

(p.s. I filtered s3x and dr0gs cause I don't know spacehey's view on things like that and I don't want this to get taken down lol)
