Summary: the endocrine system is the generalized group of glands, organs, and junk that range from reproduction (gross), to making sure that bag of skittles you ate doesn’t kill you. I don’t think people understand how important this stuff is at my age, hormones nearly run my life every single day and can sway teens into being impulsive. Also having a cousin with diabetes, he kinda scares me how he probably would steal my pancreas, dudes loco.

Pituitary gland: located at the base of the brain, regulates stress, metabolism, growth, and reproduction (that means sex lol).

Hypothalamus: connects the nervous system to the endocrine system, containing small nuclei that perform these tasks.

Thyroid gland: located in the neck (already know mine is absolutely wrecked learning that), releasing hormones that affect body development such as the metabolism and protein synthesis (proteins made for lost protein)

Adrenal glands: self explanatory, these glands release a steroid hormone that tell you to fight, flight, or freeze. Just imagine being shot at by a crazy hillbilly and fearing for your life, that’s adrenaline. Also the reason I taze myself before I lift weights.

Pancreas: have you ever seen your pancreas? How do you know it’s there? What if everyone has been lying to you your whole life? But just in case it is real, it’s purpose is to regulate blood sugar, and releases enzymes that breakdown stuff. I gotta say, hey girl are you an enzyme? Because you make me want to breakdown into my existential awareness of perpetual suffering.

One of these hormones is called insulin, you might of heard it if you have a life suckingly miserable cousin who relies on it.

Ovaries: if you won the AFAB lottery you probably have this! I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to violently claw it out of your body  to be honest, sounds awful. I won’t go into too much detail besides that it is capable of producing a fetus which is pretty neat, but why do I care when there’s already children here now ready to starve and die?

Testes: a personal favorite of mine, these bad boys can produce millions of sperm. This helps In the process of making a fetus. Shout out to my fellow AMABs out there, let’s like, chill out sometime.

Estrogen: responsible for the development of the ovaries, and my dad tells me I have too much of this when I say I don’t want to throw the football anymore.

Testosterone: responsible for the development of the testicals and muscles. Pretty radical stuff if you ask me.

Thank you for your input ^^!! I’ll look into PMDD, but there’s only so much I can know as I’m limited to but I hope to understand what I can about human psychology and anatomy. (Surprisingly this was for a psych class)
