One of the biggest turn-offs for me regarding stories of any media is the miscommunication trope. IMO, I think that it's lazy writing if the solution to the story's situation is to talk to said person to get full context on the initial misunderstanding.
In the current book I am reading ("The Elite" by Kiera Cass, the second book of "The Selection" series) the MC will be on board for the one love interest but then she'll hear or see something (with no context) and assume the worst. She won't talk to him until something bad happens that makes her talk to him. Everytime she has second thoughts on him she falls back to trying to be with the other love interest who is the worst because he is "safe" as the childhood friend/lover; it makes me want to gouge my eyes out.
I'm really hoping that I will like the third book.

Update: I did enjoy the third book a lot more. However, I will not be picking up the 4th and 5th book. From what I have been told I am going to not care about them and will only get more annoyed.
