Why I'm here

I used to be a MySpace regular from about 2005-2008. I had a hell of a good time, just getting to know people all over the world who I would never have met otherwise and having all kinds of these deep emotional bonds and conversations. Man, I heard some crazy shit. Some of the people I met then are still my friends today.

Yahoo Chat and MySpace, for me, were as good as social media ever got. Those were the peak years of the internet.

I left MySpace suddenly because I believe I was angry at something being deleted, and Facebook was more or less at the same level of popularity by then and I thought, why not go there? Everyone I knew irl was on Facebook too. Could you imagine, leaving MySpace because I was angry about censorship aahahahaha if only I knew what the internet would become and what kind of platform I was going to.

On a personal note, 2005 was also the best time of my life. I really had my act together in the mid 2000's and I never really got back to that point after the great recession. So I've got that going on too.

I don't know how much I expect out of this. Heyspace is not very big and I don't see it ever competing with the big boys but nonetheless it feels good to be online and see that blue bar at the top of the screen and let the good, familiar feelings come back. We'll see where it goes...
