DNIs are STUPID!!!
Not many people are actually going to follow them, and if anything they are more of a "discourse stances" or "these are things im against" lists.
You can't expect everyone you deem a "creep" or "freak" to KNOW that's what you mean when you put "freaks/creeps DNI" on ur DNI list. Same goes for bigot too. Not everyone you consider a bigot is going to know they are a bigot. If your DNI is also miles long, no ones gonna read the whole thing either.
The most effective way to curate your online experience is liberal use of the block button and the report button IF the users account goes against site rules/guidlines (please make sure they actually go against the rules too -_-' don't report people out of pettiness just bc u disagree w/ them)

The DNI is more for me honestly, I'm not a very sensitive person and don't hesitate to block at all if I think you're being harmful. Though I absolutely get your point! It can put you in a bad situation if you are particularly sensitive or it might attract trolls to bother you just because it's there /nbr

Saying "racists/homophobes/transphobes DNI!!!" doesn't do anything, because actual racists, transphobes, and homophobes don't consider themselves to be those things. They think they're just "normal" and that everyone else who disagrees with them is some sort of freak. On the other hand, DNI's are basically just a guide for other people on how to harass you best. Saying "transphobes DNI!" is just telling a transphobe that you're a good target for them to suicide bait.
Putting all that information about yourself on the internet for everyone to see is incredibly dangerous. ESPECIALLY if you're listing your triggers and/or mental illnesses/conditions. Not everyone is going to see your trigger list and say "Oh, I should avoid bringing up these topics"; many of them are going to use those against you in an attempt to literally get you killed.

i have a bit of a dnf so that i can feel safer in my own little bubble but i always sympathize with this as well. also if i may add, i have a personal quarrel with "regular dni criteria" bevause it is so vague and doesn't tell me anything... how am i supposed to just decipher what that means?

fr! and also valid, I can see benefits in them but tbh they just get quite annoying after a while of seeing vague ones or ones that are multiple paragraphs long

no because i will see people make actual essay long dni's which is concerning... like i understand wanting that safe space but i promise your entire list of political standpoints and everyone you dislike doesn't need to be on it

yeah lol, it's all about finding the balance between too vague and pages of words imo. And if someone can't do that I feel like they should just use the block button more freely
