Spin pole class kicked my ass yesterday my god

When I first ever started trying out pole dancing I got this special deal at the studio I go to that was a 4 for $40 class pack for beginners and 1 out of the 4 classes I scheduled was a spin pole class. It was pretty hard so I figured I'd practice just doing static pole because I didn't have any experience with form so doing the form while I'm moving was too hard. Now I'm good enough with my form that I'm getting ready to test to move up to L2 static pole and I realized last week that I literally never went back to spin pole so I scheduled a class cuz I wanna test for L2 for both at the same time so my skill is well rounded. My dumbass thought that spin pole was gonna be waaaay easier like knowing the form was my only hurdle. In the normal classes a lot of my struggle is that I can't get enough momentum in my spins so I was like "this will be way better cuz the pole spins for me." THAT SHIT IS SOOOOOO HARD LMAO! Momentum is not your friend you start going so fast from literally doing nothing like hello???? They had us practicing this move called the crucifix and it required climbing up the pole while you're fucking spinning and I just could not get my senses together enough to actually move into the pose after climbing because climbing makes you go so fast. At one point I somehow accidentally managed to start climbing without a kickoff so I actually wasn't moving and the instructor came over and spun my pole lol. I also noticed that a lot of the training we were doing in this class was waaay more pole conditioning and core strength training. There were quite a few moves where the form itself wasn't very complex but you had to remain in the air mostly using your abdomen and maintain complete control of your form for longer periods of time (basically not letting yourself get tired and just drop to the ground but actually lowering yourself purposely and gracefully). Plus a lot of those moves also required shifting your weight to purposely increase and decrease the speed at which you're spinning. I think it's one of those things where the more you do it the more your body adjusts to it so they wanted us to really mess around with the feeling of spinning while you're doing moves you generally know. Plus the moves that require core strength need so much more strength when you're not just fighting gravity but also inertia. That shit left me feeling sooooo sore like everything hurts bruh. It feels like back when I had to take a weight training class in summer school for my gym credit (I literally just wanted to finish gym before school even started so I'd never take gym but they didn't tell me it was WEIGHT TRAINING). I'm gonna try and do a back and forth of taking normal classes and spin classes cuz I actually do still need more practice with static pole before I can test for L2 (one handed fireman and one handed jasmine both s u c k) but I definitely need a lot more conditioning in spin pole. I legit got really sick for a few minutes by the end of the class because it was much more labor intensive than I realized so it made me really hot and it was already like 85 degrees AND I'm stupid so I went to that class having not eaten anything all day so my blood sugar was crazy low mixed with all that spinning it made me feel like I was gonna faint. That was just me being dumb though, next time I will eat an hour or two before class. It was genuinely really fun tho I'm so excited to take more classes, learn some more stuff, overall get better. The cool thing about the structure of the spin pole class is that because there's really no effort required to generate momentum and the class is much more focused on core strength you get to really start building the skill of making your moves look cooler. The thing that drew me to pole is that it looks so beautiful and part of what makes it hard is that it requires a lot of strength and effort but when you're really skilled you make it look like you're weightless and floating like there's no effort at all which is super impressive. It was much easier to make my form look pretty while working on my core strength and it was so sick to watch it didn't even feel like I was looking at me (I record myself to check if I'm doing it right). Very thrilled to mess around with this some more cuz I'm such a high achiever so for some reason I really feel the need to move on to L2 cuz there's like 7 levels and my brain is getting competitive like I gotta push myself more. I haven't even been doing it for a full year yet but brain go brr I must be better I just love it so much!
