Tiktok has ruined all forms of entertainment to the point that every branch of it has to fit a fast paced narrative in order to catch the viewers attention. Example, we could have books back then that never had to express the metaphor or theme it was trying to convey, it would just be a story, and the reader was left to analyze it. Now we have books who feel the need to explain every action a character makes for us, “Daria closed the door, and as she did so, she realized she was that door, always getting pushed and pulled in the direction whoever was closest wanted it, but at the end of the day, she was always swinging and swinging after trying to fill the opinions of everyone at the same time, not sure where she should actually be standing, she wished no one would use her door,” and books that explain every characters move and thought. What was once an oversharing of information that didnt let the reader think for themselves became the norm, all of these books are now popular on tiktok and in real life, talking about the great ending and story, but when you go to read it everything is just empty social media bait. See colleen hoover, well loved author on tiktok, “””””””Every incident chips away at your limit. Every time you choose to stay, it makes the next time that much harder to leave. Eventually, you lose sight of your limit altogether, because you start to think, ‘I’ve lasted five years now. What’s five more?””””
On the topic of tiktokization of media lets talk about whats been affected the most MUSIC. Every song now follows the same structure , every song has the same rythm, similar lyrics (usually about breaking up or toxic ex’s or some dumb shit), and has the same fake pop punk aesthetic (not necessarily REAL pop punk, i mean Olivia Rodrigo, who is a CARICATURE of pop punk.) Every song is also so SHORT because people cant listen to anything over 2 minutes without getting bored, if not they have to speed it up, and because of this artists have started releasing sped up versions of their own music. I don’t want tiktok here anymore, and I wiah it was never made.
