Yesterday was a lot nicer. I went to my event, met some new people, and saw some more familiar people. We received a nice welcome speech, went on a nice organization and college browse (where I found an organization I was looking for), had lunch, went on a campus tour, painted and sipped on mocktails and then went home. Naturally, I got a bunch of free stuff out of it. Oh, and I found someone who's from my hometown! That was super cool.
Two hours after that event there was a block party. I was afraid it was going to be cancelled due to imminent rain, but the rain subsided. There was so much free (and good) food at that party. I really was eating good. There were hotdogs, hamburgers, mac and cheese, baked beans, every Lay's chip you could name, lemonade, and cheesecake. The school's mascot was there, and boy was he funny. I would not be surprised if "have a good sense of humor" is on the requirements section of the job listing. Anyway, I had a good time at the block party and once again found some familiar people.
I do have one complaint though it has nothing to do with the party. I just feel a little disposable right now. People who are familiar with me will only hang by me until their friends make it to the function. Now I will say that I haven't been the best friend and it's hard for me to get close to people, but really? Just wave and say hi and then stand around awkwardly while you wait. Maybe you'll see how I feel just about every day... Anyway, the party ended up getting stormed out. The lightning freaked me out so bad I went home early.
As for today, I had a slow one. This morning I got some pretzel bites at Auntie Anne's. They were pretty good, but I made the mistake of eating them without water...outside...during an excessive heat warning. I enjoyed them underneath a tree near a fountain, but I really wish I had brought my water bottle with me. Later, I went to this floor event downstairs that had cookies and coloring sheets. I had a blast coloring and drawing on my sheet and enjoyed a cookie. It was nice to meet more of my hallmates. The sunset outside was pretty while we were working, so many of us went outside to go see it. A couple of girls at the event announced that they got dropped from rush, which I consider to be very brave of them to say. A guy who was visiting responded "I'm glad you guys know your worth!" I couldn't keep myself from laughing. I had a great time.
Tomorrow, I have another event, and unfortunately this one starts at 8:30, so I'm going to have to wake up early. I'll be fine and again, I hope to have fun. Also, classes start this week! I'm super nervous, but deep breaths.
Boa noite,
