If it makes you feel any better, not thinking is rarely the path to being smart. For a lot of people, thinking is like using a newly discovered arm: it hurts to use it and flails about randomly when you try anything at all. Sometimes thinking can be self-destructive; but, if you ever want to think productively, you do need to think often like a form of exercise.
