Daily film rec #2: American Psycho

Synopsis: A wealthy New York investment banking executive hides his alternate psychopathic ego from his co-workers and friends as he escalates deeper into his illogical, gratuitous fantasies.

Review (no spoiler): This movie  is really misunderstood by a lot of people, some think it's a terrible movie because of its graphic violence, some are glorifying the acts of the main character without understanding the film. I think you can have multiple interpretation of the film because sometimes the limit between insanity and reality is intentionally blurry, but it will for sure make you question this limit. Despite a lot of people (mostly parents) saying it's only  a disturbing and vile film, it is above all a really dark satire of the men from wall street in the 90s, the characters working with Bateman are more ridiculous and absurd than the others. I will not spoil moments from this film but it is so memorable with its black humor, hilarious quotes and disturbing imagery. A true classic of cinema.

Why you should watch it: First you really need to see one of the best acting performance in history: Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, his portrayal of this insane scumbag is really breathtaking. It's a movie you will remember for a long time, I often quote this movie in my life and you will either find it funny or uncomfortable, usually it's both. If you are mature enough to sit through several adult scenes and violence, don't waste more time and go see it !

Now excuse me, I have to return some videotapes.
