I wish I had a better attention span for learning languages or a better memory. I used to know so much Japanese and all of the hiragana and now I remember almost zero of it and I think that really sucks. I get it though, language is a use it or lose it type of thing, and when I'm not thinking too hard I forget English too.

Currently, I'm working really hard on learning Spanish, and by that I mean taking a summer long break and forgetting everything that doesn't already sound like an English word. It terrible to know something at one point and then not be able to even associate words to figure it out. I have an upcoming Spanish course in university (not worthy of the title university but it sounds cooler than college and I am smart so I deserve it) and I worry that I'll end up forgetting everything I learn in it and end up wasting time and money.

I think a good trick for learning a language is thinking of everything as a synonym for words in your native language. For example in English we have sleepy and tired so cansado could be used interchangeably for those. It helps me remember words easier but when it comes to verbs and grammar in Spanish that all goes out the window which is exactly why I forget everything that isn't super easy. TF is ver, voy, hace, pones, etc.. I look them up 7 times and still forget. I'm pretty sure pones is to put tho (I was right).

Anyway, I just want to retain the knowledge I gain is that so much to ask for? I'm on a mission here I want to know Chinese and German too. I honestly think German would be easiest for me but I don't even know how to say goodbye. ... I lied I definitely knew that and shouldn't have had to google that. This is exactly what I mean I'm so F'd.
