i haven't been on in a year, and a lot of my friends haven't been on since last year too. long time no see!!
to me, the cool thing about Space Hey is that you have to kind of remind yourself to log on, unlike other social medias (instagram, tiktok, etc.) which are always in convenient proximity because the app ceo's know we are addicted to them (or will become easily addicted to them).
i think for people like me, who are trying to break their addiction to social media, this is a great tool to utilize as i teach myself to distance from the need to be on social media or to be scrolling when i have nothing else to do.
i'm finding things to replace my compulsion to scroll, like knitting, exercising, painting, reading, vinyl and cassette collecting, getting into old and new shows and movies, taking walks, hanging out with friends + family and putting my phone in the other room, etc. it's been working!!
but the reason i am so passionate about breaking this addiction is because i want to be more present in my everyday life and really appreciate the world around me a lot more. and i want to distance myself from it while i'm still in my twenties, not when i'm older and regret not spending enough time in the moment. i'm not anti social media, but i am definitely pro moderation, you know.
will i be utilizing space hey more? who KNOWS! but i'll try! i don't think i'm a blogging kind of girl, but i mean, what's the true difference between a tweet and a blog post? 🤔
anyways, i'll talk to y'all later!! my sister got me dumplings for lunch and i gotta keep studying so i can get into law school 😌
smooches! xx
