trying to find out about animal populations in the nullarbor is SO hard.

i have no idea where to look! in diagrams showing population depletion of native animals, any time they were in the nullarbor area, they aren't now, because, like, of course. it's super inhospitable. whatever. but to not find any records of this is so strange (though it's verrryyy likely bc i don't know where to look). i want to know what was here and what isn't any more because i just refuse to believe that the place being as extremely dead as it was while i was there is how it has been since colonisation. if aboriginal people traversed its entire length there is no way the place was so empty. the constant warnings about hitting animals on the road meant nothing when we hardly saw any. we did see a wedgetail ripping up a kangaroo corpse which was pretty cool. but still! the search continues!!
