Welcome 2 my 1st journal entry !!
It´s a well known fact that music brings people together. That is shown in multiple documentaries or movies and it is visible in personal real life events such as christmas, birthdays, concerts and festivals.
When you have nothing to talk about, music will always be an option because everyone likes a bit of everything. Which is exactly why I find it so important to share my musical interests, especially on this website since I´ve noticed that most people here view their favorite artists as their heroes and add friends based on their taste.
My favorite part about this is that playing an instrument or actively being a part of the music industry is no requirement to be a part of something. Not even understanding the meanings of songs or adding specific meanings to your own music is necessary. Even if a song seems to be meaningless to its creator, its listeners will find a personal meaning. It´s just like Mitski said: "I have let the interpretations of my music go. Once you make it and you put it out, it´s not yours anymore. It´s up to the listener to do with it what they will."
I myself played the violon cello for 5 years and quit because my school work was preventing me from getting better at it. You could say I wasn`t satisfied with myself, so I simply gave up. At some times I regret it, but it has never made me feel disconnected from music and self expression.
Not expressing yourself might be one of the most pressuring things I felt and at most times I didn´t even realize how important self expression and personal growth is. I believe if you are not able to express yourself due to lack of skills, motivation or will, your favorite artists will do it for you or even help you to gain will.
I may not express myself through making music anymore, but I sure do by listening to it, wearing what I like, trying out make up and sketching from time to time.
I hope this entry was a nice little reminder to appreciate music more!
Thanks a lot 4 readingg !!
