I finally went to my hometown library and checked out some new books to read! Here's what I checked out. I'll post reviews as I finish reading:
1. In the Garden of Spite by Camilla Bruce
Follows the life of Belle Gunness, one of the most prolific female serial killers in U.S. history. I don't know much about this one, but I'm interested in historical horror (and horror centering women, written by women), so I'm interested to see how it is.
2. Velvet Was the Night by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
A noir mystery set in 1970s Mexico City. I adored Mexican Gothic when I read it a few years ago, so I am quite excited to read another work by Moreno-Garcia.
3. Leech by Hiron Ennes
Medical horror science fiction written by a Queer author. So, basically everything I'm interested in when it comes to sci-fi novels. I've always been interested in medical history, so a medical horror sounds like a fun ride. I'm hoping for some gruesome body horror.
4. Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo
Described on the back cover as a, "Queer southern gothic," which immediately caught my attention, as a lover of both southern gothic and Queer horror. Another one I'm very excited to read.
5. Even Though I Knew the End by C. L. Polk
A lesbian supernatural noir novel that is also right up my alley. Who knew my library had so many Queer books for me to check out today?
Anyways, this is getting sort of long, so I'll leave off here. I'll be back with reviews~
