How I make GIFs (Flashing GIFs warning)

I like to make GIFS and upload them to Tumblr. This isn't so much of a tutorial, it's really just my process. I might edit this later with images. Below is an example of a GIF I posted from Static-X's music video "I'm The One"

Resources I use: OBS Studio, VLC Media Player, Ezgif online.

1. I use OBS Studio to screen record any YouTube music video. This part kind of sucks because of the stuff YouTube puts in the way. I try to watch the video ahead of time to see what parts I want to capture, because Ezgif won't take large files.

2. After I screen record, I open the video on VLC and trim and crop wherever needed. This helps cut down file size to upload to Ezgif.

3. I open Ezgif and click "Video to GIF" and upload the video. This might take a while. I then drag to see the part of the video I want to use. I use the "start time", "end time", and "use current position" options below the video to pick the part.

4. If my GIF is short, I'll change the framerate to the highest setting. I prefer cleaner GIFs. I click "Convert to GIF"

5. After the GIF loaded, I go to the options below the output and click "frames". If there are still parts of the GIF I want to leave out, I go frame by frame removing unwanted scenes.

6. Optional, but you can adjust the colors in Ezgif too.

7. Save image and upload wherever you want 👍
