THE 2023 YUGIOH WORLD CHAMPION HAS BEEN CROWNED!!!

So we had the Yugioh World Championship over the weekend in Japan. It was a interesting event, as 2 of my friends were playing in it, Paulie Aronson and Enzo Fiallos. The first few rounds were in "the backrooms" in some conference hall with fold out tables and office chairs. not very appealing for us watching at home. But all that would be redeemed with a spectacular finale ceremony at the Tokyo Dome in front of a massive crowd of spectators with drums, flags, and pomp and circumstance.

We all knew Paulie was obviously the GOAT and i knew going into the weekend that he would do well, and he proved my expectations true when he made it all the way to the finals! Unfortunately, i had to stay up with my friend Zara's stream to catch it, and it didnt get over and i didnt get to sleep until 5:30 am EST. Paulie played against Juan Mateo Pastor, a Peruvian player who frankly i never heard of, but i mean if he made it to the grand finals ofc he has to be good. Paulie was down to 1400 life points and still managed to beat him, surviving an onslaught of 2 back to back copies of Evenly Matched being dropped on him and other counterplays, but in the end, my brother Paulie ended up making us all proud and winning it all!

Now if u read my past blog entry about the muckity mucks i knew from the community, u would know that they mightve been widely considered by many the "best of all time", but one thing they didn't ever do is win Worlds. "The Author" only ever made it to Worlds once, in 2013 when he won the NAWCQ with Mythic Rulers during the Dragon Ruler era. And as for mr 5 Time YCS champ Chris LeBlanc, he has NEVER made it to Worlds as hard as hes tried. And now, the title of FIRST EVER American World Champion goes to Paulie, a man who is as humble as he is a kind soul. I couldnt be happier for him and think of a man who is more deserving. And if somehow The Author or Mr 5 Timer had made it AND WON, we all know damn well we would never hear the end of it, both from them and from ppl criticizing them; For 5 Timer it would be his abusive and manipulative actions toward his ex-GF Sam or his drug addiction, and The Author it would be the Djinn incident and how he would violate the spirit of the game, morality and common decency to do better at a fucking game for children, essentially making a Faustian Bargain but yet unlike Faust, he would never see the downside to doing it, or at the very least would be indifferent to the criticism (and maybe if they actuallyu know him like i do theyd attack him over that sexual relationship with his friend's mom too but not a lot of ppl know him for the literal motherfucker he is). Either way, like their egos would need any more inflating. And since Paulie did something they COULDNT and was the FIRST EVER to do it for America, he has cemented it in the history books. Nobody ever remembers the ppl who come after, they remember who did it FIRST! There will never be another first ever US champ.

Whats the next milestone for this game? Perhaps it is someone like Sunseed Jess aka Jess Robinson running it back next year and winning it, thus becoming the first Trans Woman to ever win. Not only would that become a major victory for the women who grace this game and wanna be respected in a game full of and dominated by us men, but also for the LGBTQ+ community that play the game too. Who knows what fun and excitement next season will bring!
