Do you like Quake?

Do you like id Software? their early work was a little too 2-dimensional for my taste, but when Doom came out in '93, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole game has clear, crisp graphics, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the levels a big boost. They've been compared to 3D Realms, but I think id has a far more crunchy, fast sense of combat. In '99, id released this, Quake, their most accomplished game. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "The Slipgate Complex", a level so well designed, most people probably don't find all the secrets. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of cleaving skulls, and the importance of the shotgun, it's also an introduction of quad damage and the biosuit.

I might want to play Quake for the culture, but I have other games I want to play. Plus I already have the original Doom games on hold due to not being satisfied from the lack of understanding of the fun way to play those games. Who knows though, I might try it if I feel like it.
