an observation of 2000s fashion . . . (a short analysis)

4 those who dont know, ego eden as a whole is very obsessed w fashion and the history of trends! its not just the way an outfit is put together, its the context behind it that makes it good! buuuut thats besides the point XD

something ive noticed a whole lot w the rise of the 2000s aesthetic revival and a million kids (younger than me… ehe) taking interest in teh scene n emo subcultures (theyre different i swear.) is that every1 who emulates said style is so… put together? each look i come across online is so put together and perfect and thought out, when in reality the actual mid to late 2000s (hell even the 2010s in my corner of the internet ehehe) was less articulate?? most scemo peeps from said era generally tossed together what they had on hand, usually cheap, brightly colored prints or something left over from hot topic X) there wasnt really a set formula, and during 2008 and the years following lord knows nobody had the privilege to afford striped sweaters and quality jewelry that often XDDD thats why we had such a rise in cheap jewelry, fabrics, and… leggings… cause there was only so much they could do to pass off as stylish HAHAHAHA

now 4 anyone reading this, this is not to hate on anyone who is starting out in the alternative subculture or is wanting to be a baby bat, i love how creative some people get with their interpretations of what they think a decades fashion “is”! i just think its interesting how the 20 year trend cycle drives people to constantly improve and evolve old trends!!!!
