if you are a fan of the band mindless self indulgence i advise you to not interact with my profile because i am likely going to block you.

i don't care if this makes me less "scene" or less "emo", i don't care. before i am anything INCLUDING scene i am an anti racist as well as a victim advocate. by now i think everyone should be well aware of the actions of the lead singer as well as the other members. 

if you aren't aware then to give a basic rundown, Jimmy Urine, the lead singer of MSI, has had a history of gr00ming and doing other gross things to underage girls. there is a rolling stone article on this incident that covers the victim's lawsuit and the court case. not only this but their extremely offensive song lyrics, including ones using the n-slur, as well as one about taking a p4nty shot of a 5 year old. 

this is all publicly available information that you can research for yourself all though it is hard to find. iirc there is a blog post somewhere on tumblr that i am unable to find at the moment but if i do find it, i will link it in the comments and pin it.

"it's shock factor/satire." is the s/a part a joke? didn't think so. ever heard of Schrodinger's a-hole?

"i'm not racist/problematic/etc. for listening to their music." but you're ignoring people when they call you out for listening to a band that has, again, multiple racist songs and lyrics, especially when literal people of color are speaking on how this band is bad. you may not be racist but you sure as hell are a part of the problem, because if you're any sort of radical you should know by now;

THE ONLY WAY TO STOP RACISM IS BY BEING ANTI-RACIST, NOT BEING "NOT RACIST".

to any MSI fan reading this blog post ready to harass me in my comments and call me sensitive, please go ahead because i guarantee you will be embarrassed looking back on this someday. deciding to ignore a post about how the lead singer has done despicable things to teenage girls and overall just be a weirdo and pervert in general is disgusting and you are apart of the reason why there is never any justice for victims especially those of celebrities.

just because people liked this band back then doesn't mean its acceptable to now. the times have changed and people have realized that things like this are NOT okay. you can emulate 2000s culture to an extent. the line is drawn when you start to hurt people, because that is not okay.

there are plenty of other bands that make very similar music that don't support s/a and aren't weirdos. if you're going to complain about not being able to listen to one or even a few bands because people have told you they're not good people then you're the person in this situation being sensitive. get over yourself, because that's f#cking embarrassing. 

i should also add that this isn't me trying to cancel them and it's different from old emo bands being slightly misogynistic, that is in a very heavy contrast compared to saying literal racist slurs and s/a. if you think those are comparable then please use critical thinking skills...

side note; any comments surrounding Gerard and Lyn-Z are irrelevant to this conversation, that matter is entirely different. they have a personal relationship in real life. we don't know if they support her actions or if they're even aware of them, and that isn't for us to form opinions on. obviously, i'm not defending Lyn-Z, i am saying that there isn't enough context on all of these situations in a personal format for us to judge Gerard for it too. He is not his relationship.  

IF YOU LISTEN TO MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE YOU DO NOT BELONG IN THE ALTERNATIVE COMMUNITY, ESPECIALLY ANYTHING CLOSE TO SUBCULTURES WITH RADICAL POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES. 

SUPPORT PEOPLE OF COLOR, NOT RACISTS. 

in conclusion; racists (mindless self indulgence fans) do not interact and go f#ck yourselves! especially anyone like that with "PLUR" in their bio because listening to music with lyrics like that does not promote peace, love, unity, or respect. 

i would rather be radical and advocate for people than excuse terrible behavior to live "authentically" in a now outdated fashion. hope this helps <3
