DND 5e
Character:
Venvilla Everrest, Goblin Bard, College of Glamour.
Ven woke up in the lab of a (rather racist) wizard with no memory of anything prior. He had been studying ways to 'unlock higher consciousness' in beings he deemed of lesser intelligence, but near enough to what he deemed sufficient to be 'unlocked'. Whatever he had done to Ven seemed to please him, and so he studied her for some time before she eventually escaped. She eventually encountered a group whom she joined for what was initially just a quick expedition investigating a mansion that ended up becoming something much bigger. This involved them finding a ghost town of a hamlet and claiming it as their own. Through all her encounters, Ven always had this hanging sense about herself. Though she didn't remember anything, flashes and vague feelings existed, and encounters with a warforged named Rooibos intensified those feelings. She had such an overwhelming dread about learning who she was, because as she had found out, whoever 'Venvilla' was, she was not the original inhabitant of the body she was in. Her answer was forced upon her eventually as Rooibos finally made a move and went in to kill her. Her head was severed clean off, but with the quick action of those around her she was revivified. The former inhabitant of the body, Sweetpea, was lost in this. Venvilla's consciousness had been suppressing Sweetpea the entire time, and without her, the memories came back. And she was right.
Venvilla was originally an aasimar who lived in a country across the sea, Fiora, over 400 years ago. The kingdom that ruled over the country at the time was one of great wealth disparity and constant lost wars that were pointless to begin with. Many things had started to radicalize Ven, but she was tempered by the presence of a girl she had fallen in love with. Vivi was the daughter of the local lord, set for an arranged marriage to a man who was less than kind. Ven and Vivi were deeply in love, but as such things go, it couldn't last. Vivi broke it off with Ven, suddenly and coldly, for reasons she couldn't understand. This sudden cold breakup was the final snap. Ven soon became the figurehead of a revolution that would end up killing the king, but it didn't stop there. It swept through the land, killing lords and nobles and any royal sympathizers, growing in its violence and chaos as it went. And in the mass of casualties, a young girl that held significance for no one other than Ven was killed by her hand, without so much as an explanation. Ven waged this war not on her own, but with a warforged she had saved and given purpose to, Rooibos. The very same who killed her again more than 400 years after, in a new body, one she had been forced into not of her own free will.
Campaign:
Taking place in the country of Ochos, the party initially met by chance at a festival before getting invited to the mansion of a lord who vanished many many years ago. The mansion was haunted as hell, the lord having been under another named Hestwick and ended up killing all of his family save for one, Daliah, who implored the party to find him and the missing city named after him. They found a hamlet that had been long abandoned and settled in, as those in the party had nowhere else to go. They journeyed through the forest to find a giant hole where the city once stood, massive and deep, and after adventures and exploration found that the city was sunken on purpose into the New Astral Sea by Hestwick himself. The party seemed to have caught the attention of the man at some point unfortunately. Many shenanigans occurred, highlighting just how incredibly weird the surrounding area was, with party members coming and going. Through everything, two of the original party members stayed, Venvilla and Tom. A few more joined, Aodhan and Sirichar, and shortly after an encounter they had to travel to a major city a few days away. The city was in intense disrepair, and upon meeting another man named Robert, they helped deal with the primary issues plaguing it. Robert then revealed himself to be the absent father of Sirichar and reconnected with his son. On an expedition through the New Astral Sea more shenanigans occurred and it was revealed that Tom was in fact a Changeling named The Filigree, having actually encountered them in their changling form before as a thief they gave chase to. The party was joined again by another, Goopie, who had known Venvilla from her time at the wizard's tower and was one who helped her escape. More shenanigans occur, including finding out that whatever Hestwick had been doing is causing holes on reality to open at random down to the sea from the overworld, threatening to overtake the entire overworld. The party was tricked into the void and had to escape through the Faewild, where Aodhan, who had been part of the wild hunt, severed his ties to it. Fili had been apparently taken to Vangwemer to stand trial for prior crime. However, the party saw that they had been misled, and Fili was now working under Hestwick with the promise of being crowned the new King once everything was complete. It also turned out Robert had been working for Hestwick as well for many many years. The plan was to sink the city into the New Astral Sea as was done with the city of Hestwick, but the party intervened and prevented that from happening. Even more shenanigans happen, including Venvilla being killed and revived, resulting in her regaining her memories.
Currently, the party are in the astral sea again, having stumbled upon a manor on an island on which a masquerade was taking place. The manor belonged to none other than Zane, the wizard who resulted in Ven and Goopie, and who also was now working for Hestwick.
Party:
Aodhan- Satyr Ranger, Horizon Walker. Was part of the Wild Hunt until he accidentally killed his best friend. He ran away, taking his friend's name, Keiran, as his own as he joined a circus. Eventually met Sirichar and left to travel with him until they encountered the hamlet. Eventually returned to the faewild with the party and ended up severing his ties to the Wild Hunt as a whole.
Sirichar- Teifling Rogue, Swashbuckler, Dhampir. Raised by his mother in a seaside town until she fell ill and died. While she was around though, she spoke poorly of his father and always insisted vampires were not real, to the point that that's something major Siri remembered of her. He took odd jobs to just try and get by, falling into alcohol, until he met Aodhan. Eventually came to the realization that he was in fact a Dhampir, which meant his father was in fact a real vampire.
Goopie- Plasmoid Wizard, Esoteric Plasmology. Created in Zane's lab, ended up with an intense thirst for knowledge. We just love Goopie. Also appears to have knowledge that she shouldn't have, though this hasn't really been explored.
Lancer
Character:
Kristsina Augusts Madler/"Nico", Callsign 'Heartbeat', SSC Mourning Cloak 2, IPS-N CALIBAN 1, SSC ATLAS 2
Mech- "Vocalist" Mourning Cloak
Nico Love, born Kristsina Augusts Madler, was at one point part of the highly successful idol group 'Fae-Rayze'. She was born in a very middle of nowhere farming town, and her rise to fame is one that everyone thinks they know. What they don't know is what went on behind the scenes. Idol work is no joke, with conditions some would even call abusive. As their fame rose, so did the pressure. Perfection was not just expected, there was no other option. Kristsina wanted to be loved, but what she got wasn't what she wanted- they loved Nico, not Kristsina. The demands of both 'fans' and executives, the way men looked at her and wrote about her, never a break or a moment to breathe. It got to her, as it did to most of the others in her group. But their contract was watertight, set for at least another 20 years. The only way out was if, somehow, a member died. Apri, their lead visual, struggled in much the same way, though far more erratic. It was clear what she was going to do. They all knew, some tried more than others to stop it. Kristsina saw as she picked up the gun, she could have stopped her, but... she didn't. Apri died, and Kristsina took the opportunity to leave immediately. She needed something to do, something to distract her from the guilt, and on a whim spent a majority of her leftover savings on a mech, customizing it to her tastes. Whatever instinct led her to do so seemed to be right, she took to piloting like a fish to water. The years of idol work had ingrained a sense of rhythm, teamwork, adaptability, and a tireless need to improve that quickly brought attention to her ability. A mere year after she started, she gained the title of Lancer.
