Choujin X - 40.2 [Personal Thoughts/Discussion]

PRE-MATURE WARNING:
Every panel I'm talking about is unlinked and unimaged for the sake of reading, and I'm assuming people already read the chapter, but the topic is still somewhat heavy with the context of the source material in mind. If you clicked on just to see what I'm talking about and don't know what Choujin X is, I wouldn't go much further.

Chapter 40.2 reminded me a lot of Tokyo Ghoul's panels with how Ishida handles his penmanship, and I think this was one of the chapters he got to have a lot of fun with that he couldn't have with Tokyo Ghoul. Letting loose and letting him just draw whatever he wants on a page gives us these uncanny designs like in page 17, and onward it really stretches the limits of Ishida's writing. When we're told that the only thing that can stop someone from raising themselves indefinitely is the pain it causes, I was really surprised to see that it wasn't just hyperbole, and Palma was a perfect to make a demonstration out of.

But now that Palma has turned into... Whatever that thing is, I'm really excited to see what Ishida does with her. This probably makes her a great target for Zofa's mark, and given that Tokio sensed her call we're probably going to see a fight later next chapter.

What are your thoughts on this chapter?
