Wolf's Art Share (8/02/2023) - Struggles with Storytelling/Comics

Good morning! Talking about storytelling and comics a bit, in the last blog I shared this art which was something I did in my free time for The Center for Cartoon Studies One-Week Workshop. Which I do eventually want to finish out, this was the first day.

I was very happy with it, and wanted to keep doing that little workshop, but I stopped. And this is just my problem - I kind of get into a groove of things with my comics and then some invisible wall crops up.

Below is a snibbit from a Nuzlocke comic I started in 2013 and one of the last updates it had in 2015, it had decent traction - and I have a very clear understanding of what caused me to drop it in the end. But I also do remember this comic as where the first wall came up and stayed.

And so now I'm in sort of this.. both fun and weird state where I do still really love comics and sequential storytelling, I try to show it off with storyboarding for animation as well

It's just I always stop myself. I think what occurred during the run of my nuzlocke comic is something I haven't really confronted or figured out how to deal with. I don't want to think it's what's keeping me from continuing to do this. I have a lot of ideas and webcomics I want to do and I don't want to keep being held back by this wall

But these days I'm being easier on myself, I create a lot of fun and silly things that make people laugh, they're short but work out.

This was something I did while Pokemon Journeys was still airing about Goh's Cinderace and Drizzile

And an older piece for warrior cats while the "ITS ALL CAKE?!" trend was going on lmfao

All fairly low effort but funny things that make me smile when I'm having a hard time with building out a comic. Right now on Tumblr I'm building out a small set of mini comics for practice for some warriors ocs I made from Clangen in hopes it kills the rut. It's managed to gain some attention and interest even though I haven't put anything out yet - genuinely gonna work to push myself through it.
