I’ll start this off.
I don’t have much of an introduction about who I am, or what I do on here. Luckily, not many people I know are in here, so I’ll tell my story.
Since 2014 I have been singing, screaming, and writing songs in my band Perfect Sense. (SpaceHey profile still to come.) I’ve been playing in bands since I was 16, I’m 30 now, so that means since 2006. I was a OG MySpace user, and followed a bunch of bands that way in the short time that existed.
Anyway... Flash forward to 2021...
The last time I played out was in Feb 2020, right before the Covid pandemic began. I played as a solo artist in Flagstaff at the Monte V. It was kind of a disappointing set, but that was the last. The last Perfect Sense show was our annual X-Mad on Dec 20, 2019 at Tempe Tavern. I was going in to 2020 optimistic about what we we’re going to do. That fell apart rather quickly.
It became difficult to organize practice, and work on new music to follow up our 2017 release “Out to the World.” I should point out, we had written roughly 5-7 new songs in 2018, but due to some life circumstances we were unable to go quickly to the studio. We basically sat on those. 2018 was kind of slow until mid summer, and then 2019 was dead until the end of the year. Again, no studio time out side of some demos of those songs.
We all know the story of 2020, everything came to a screeching halt. So did Perfect Sense. Bass player said he was done, and we needed to look for a new one. Found a new bassist, and he almost too the guitarist head off at a fight at practice. Needless to say that wasn’t going to work. Now, as summer time approached, we found radio silence.
For a minute in July it appeared we were going to get things rolling again. However, we couldn’t agree on when we could all meet again. I knew that was bad. That ultimately was the last time all four of us were in the same room together.
Going forward into Dec, I decided to take up the reigns to this process. I went through my phone, and identified a few songs I liked, then started writing from there. Since then, I have developed roughly 20 songs I would like to push forward. I started working with a friend from high school on getting these things developed beyond the specter of an idea.
This is where my journey starts. Insert the montage here.
