Random Kingdom Hearts Drabble (part 1)

(putting part 1 even though this time i know i might not make more of these)

Today’s subject is!!!:

Ventus is my favorite character by the way! I doubt that any of you reading this were curious or care but yea <3

I’ll try my best to avoid talking spoilers (other than mentioning Ventus’s and Naminé’s existence), so this’ll just be me screaming about the games in a broad sense. If I do this again, I’ll add more in-depth stuff!

Anyway!

Fun fact, my top 2 favorite games actually aren’t any of the numbered games! They’re Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance! I liked the games so much that I got them on their original system (got an actual copy of DDD for my 3ds, but I just emulated BBS since I don’t have a psv anyway) and played them a second time! I’m not one for playing games more than once since I really only go through them for the story, so the fact that I played these two twice says a lot!
Then again I was thinking of playing through 358/2 Days and Re:Coded on their original systems (original as in emulated DS versions), but that would still technically count as playing through them for the first time huh. Cuz the new versions are just movies and don’t have any gameplay. Which is fine for Re:Coded I guess cuz I hate it, but they just murdered a lot of fun parts from 358/2 Days and it kinda just removes a lot of its emotional value in my opinion. I *think* I first experienced Days by watching gameplay of the DS version, but for Re:Coded I think I just watched the movie version cuz I don’t remember finding any gameplay of the original version that seemed interesting at the time.

Usually when I watch gameplay of something, I need commentary and that commentary has to be entertaining to me or else I stop watching. Which is why I’m glad that I found people who made the games fun like NicoB (though his voice got really loud at times and it hurt my ears ;-;). I’m currently watching some voice actors play through KH1 and KHRe:CoM and their reactions are a joy to experience. I’m really excited for them to check out KH2 and I’m praying that they don’t play Days before it.

A lot of people argue over “What order should the games be played in?”, but. I thought it made the most sense to play them in release order? I get that chronological order is good too but. Why would you play X Back Cover first. That’s a horrible start, and it doesn’t give any emotional impact at all. Even with playing through the app game (watching the cutscenes), a lot of its emotional value is based on whether or not you already have knowledge on what happens in the future. Like, the *insert character here to prevent spoilers* reveal would mean nothing. Lots of other stuff would just fly over your head. And I genuinely feel that playing through Days after KH2 helps with the emotional impact of the game. Playing it before just kinda ruins that. So play them in order of release please!!

I honestly don’t have too much room to talk though. If I’m being 100% honest. Cuz. My first game was Kingdom Hearts 3. But I can explain!! I didn’t have a PlayStation at the time but I had an XBox One and I really wanted to check out the series so!! I got the game and played through it while also watching gameplay of the other games. Don’t do what I did! If you can’t play the games, then at least still watch them online! Don’t go out of order like me! Trust in the process -w-

Then again that wasn’t my first actual exposure to Kingdom Hearts. It was the app game cuz I downloaded it thinking that it looked cool and I knew nothing about the series (then deleted it cuz I got bored). I did look up info about it and watched a now cancelled Youtuber (not mentioning name out of fear) play through part of the first game and then just. Never checked it out again. I got a blind bag keychain of the series while knowing nothing about it! (I got Naminé btw!) And I would wear that keychain on my bag and carry it everywhere without knowing a single thing about Kingdom Hearts. I only properly checked it out because I remembered her existence and I was like “Oh yeah where’s this blonde girl from again?” and then I proceeded to look her up by typing in a description of her appearance and somehow finding what I was looking for. And then I checked out the games! (ignoring that i played kh3 first and also ignoring khux)
