Journal Entry #59: 08/01/23 - Hi August! ...and University

I'm back from my vacation! It's nice to be back, even if I don't have much time left until college.

During my vacation, I went to the beach, ate lots of rich food, shopped, visited the pier at night, and went on a dolphin cruise! Out of all the activities, I actually liked shopping and visiting the pier the most. I didn't know this while I was there, but Florida has been experiencing record-breaking ocean water temperatures. No wonder the water was so warm! Fewer people are coming to the beach simple because it's too hot. I guess people will be traveling to more northern beaches now. However, where we visited is my birthplace; there's no other place like it! Anyway, I got a Tampa keychain on my way out. I don't have a picture of it, but it looks like a license plate. I put it on my backpack, but now I'm afraid people will think came to the university from Tampa.

Speaking of university, I have some more decor. I just bought a tapestry, and my mom printed out some of my artwork to hang on my wall. It was nice of her, but I didn't ask, and one of the pictures isn't something that I would put on the wall because the text makes no sense in context. Additionally, I got my backpack and custom planner today. I'm really excited for college, but I'm afraid that I won't do well. There are so many things that I will have to balance: my academics, my social life, my health, etc. In fact, today marks the day I transition from a pediatrician to an adult doctor. Man, I'm gonna miss the colorful rooms of my pediatrician's office and visiting it with a parent.

For whatever reason I didn't sleep well last night. I hope to sleep better tonight, and hopefully quell my anxieties around college. Tomorrow, I'm just gonna focus on cleaning up (I say this a lot). Though I want my room to be clean whenever I return to my hometown during breaks or the occasional weekend.
