Finished watching the entirety of The Bear last week and I still have thoughts looming about the show. Just wanna say though that out of all the cooking themed shows I have watched, that being food wars and 7 seasons of beat bobby flay, the bear has to be one of the most realistic perception of what its like to work in a kitchen. I personally have only worked at as a food runner, so I have no idea the full stresses of being a line cook, but my fucking god the levels of stress that show invokes is not only reminiscent of working FOH and BOH, but almost traumatic with it giving me painful flashbacks of screaming in my car almost every night after every shift. Besides its realism, my favorite part of this show are certainly its character arcs. Episode 1 I thought nearly the entire cast was a bunch of stuck up assholes and now that I've finished season two I find only some of them to be entire assholes. Shout out to my favorite character Sydney ofc who somehow is the most emotionally mature character in the entire show despite her being incredibly young(or at least i think so, thats kind of the vibe im getting of her and the rest of the cast). May she continue to shine in this show and surpass Carmy like she deserves to be cuz goddam. but yeah I just wanted to gush about this show, not as if the show isn't already popular enough, just praying fox is paying the shit out of these actors and writers like they deserve to be cuz i really dont want season 3 to come out years later or for it to be cancelled cuz of the writer strike. Anyways if you've watched the show lemme know ur thoughts!
