Hi. I'm 18. I have always been intrigued with books. Comics, novels, short stories, even mom's diaries. The first novel I read was when I'm around 7th grade. The school has a new program where the students have to read for fifteen minutes before the last class of the day ends. We read the book from the the small library that only contain a donator's worth of generosity. All the girls were really into it while the guys, idk what they do to be honest. Some girls bring their own book. Some of them were really into it that they even read under the table while the teacher was preaching. I, being only have touched comics at that time, was really interested in novels. Their mystery of hundreds of pages and the confident of not having pictures to help was an arrogance in my eyes, only that I see that that is what makes a writer a writer.

I picked my first novel that has a cool cover on it. Reading through the first ten pages put pride on me, since it was really hard to not being able to see all the characters and what they do. I will not lie to myself that reading a novel much, much, much harder than a comic. But Fifi being Fifi, I wanted everyone to see me that I'm cool. So I read.

There are the girls in my class that read. They joined chairs and tables, and they discussed books they've read. I was on of them. One of the girls read a novel called, "Di Tanah Lada". It's an Indonesian novel. Written by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie, and she has a way of writing that is truly traumatizes me, and I would want to ask for more. The book was 244 pages and I read it in a week.

Reading was a cool way for me to connect with people, especially them. I read a few books that time, high school was the pause of my reading journey. It went back in college, where I have friends who read, and the books I've heard were magnificent. I also got a new ipad this year, 2023 (I'm such a spoiled kid, I tried to be grateful anytime). With the new ipad I have goals for this year. Plan A was that I would read one book a month, this was I thought realistic given my reading is slow from not reading for years. But Plan A failed, One day I read 30 pages and the next three days I've read none. I have decided that speed was not the issue but the consistency. As I am writing this it's 31st of July, but let's just say it's 1st of August. Entering the eight months of the year, meaning I have to have read eight books. But I haven't read eight books.

These are the list of books I currently have read this year:

  1. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
  2. Di Tanah Lada by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie
  3. Kita Pergi Hari Ini by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie
  4. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
  5. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
Gosh there are only five. The goal was eight and twelve by the end of the year. I need to read seven more books!!!

Now, these are the list of books I want to read this year:

  1. Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami (currently reading)
  2. Kapan Nanti by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie (also currently reading)
  3. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
  4. The Catcher in the Rye bye J.D. Salinger
  5. The Stranger by Albert Camus
  6. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
  7. Heaven by Mieko Kawakami
Okay that's seven. I'll see you another time.
