The mirror of ourseves

The connection between music and adolescence has always been very close. Often, teenagers find in music a way to express themselves and communicate with others. Nevertheless, in recent years, many adults have wondered if the music adolescents listen to accurately represents them. On one hand, some argue that modern music is shallow and commercial, and that teenagers listen to it only because it's "imposed" on them by social media or to be accepted by their peers. In this case, teenagers wouldn't recognize themselves in the music they listen to, and their choice of what to listen to would be solely guided by the current trends.

On the other hand, there are also some teenagers who claim that the music they listen to precisely represents who they are, and that it mirrors their personality and tastes. In this case, the role of music wouldn't be to define teenagers but to accompany their path of growth, help them understand who they are, and discover their emotions. It's highly unlikely that artists produce music solely for commercial purposes. In fact, there are also many bands and musicians who are genuinely passionate about their music and aim to communicate a personal and meaningful message through their lyrics, which plays a significant role in their songs.

In summary, we can affirm that the bond between music and adolescents is an intricate balance. Teenagers should have the opportunity to listen to the music that inspires them the most, but at the same time, they must learn to distinguish high-quality music from commercial one. Only in this way can they truly find in music a way to express themselves and grow as individuals.
