This is really just something I'm throwing down as a placeholder of sorts; something to appease my aversion to empty text fields and unspoken opinions. Also, it is a stream-of-consciousness with only slightly more editing than a Trump Tweet.
There was a certain magic that the early days of Myspace held for us. It was an untapped market; the first true branching out of mass social media. Everybody had a platform. A home. A tribe. A forum for posting the angsty overthinkings of the cringe days of adolescence and early adulthood, and a place to force everybody to listen to your choice of music if they want to creep your profile.
They were the pre-meme ebaumsworld days, when things were funnier for reasons that were somehow simultaneously much dumber and nowhere near as dumb. I'll let you figure that one out. The days when it was edgy to smoke weed, and normal to ignore politics.
But mostly, it was a time that felt truly free and open to interpretation and exploration. Those days are certainly gone forever, but it is nice to be able to enjoy a fleeting memory of what truly felt like "Ye Olde Glory Days" to some of us.
And if that isn't cringe, then I don't know what is.
