Weird Film Recommendation [25/07/23]

Possibly In Michigan is a surreal short film by a director who makes films that'd convince you she's a sociopath, yet really she's one of the sweetest people alive. 

the film randomly cuts between being shown on a an old TV and being presented with a classic VHS style. the jarring cuts and surreal style of dialog keep the film completely unpredictable and strange. I'll be honest, this film isn't for most people. It's weird and disjointed and gets very hard to follow near the end, but with a love of experimental filmmaking (Or some acid) it can be a great experience

The film follows two friends going around a mall as they're followed by a man in the weirdest and coolest fucking mask I've ever seen. After a few musical numbers (Yes, I was surprised too) the man in the mask catches up to them. the rest of the film is very hard to follow. it's more of an experience than a narrative and some of the shots are so amazing i want to hang them on my wall.

The song "Out of her head" from the film is weirdly catchy and unique. I'm not sure who did the music (it maybe the director herself), but something about it feels impossible to place in time, like it could be made in the 1920s or in current day.

 EXTRA NOTE 

a while ago there was a TikTok trend where people said the usual "OMG this film is haunted!!!". although it's cool that this brought more attention to the film, it's also kind of annoying that anything with this old style gets lumped into the ARG and haunted "aEsThEtIc" when in reality they are all unique and interesting works of art. TikTok ruins everything.
