I've listened to a lot of the songs off of Toon Time Raw! by Jerry Paper for a while now, but I never actually
bothered listening to the actual album. Big mistake!! You get to peer
into the lives of troubled anthropomorphic animals experiencing very
human problems. Sometimes our problems don't have real solutions and in
turn, we react in a very human manner. We make mistakes and overthink
ourselves to death until we're too scared to even try. That's ok though.
Hearing these feelings expressed through sound is refreshing. Not a lot
of music has this kind of atmosphere.
The
songs are poppy, laid back, and always come off as tragic in one way or
another. I did some research and apparently the album was recorded with
BadBadNotGood which was a huge surprise! They're credited as "Easy
Feelings Unlimited" which I think is a badass moniker.
The
drums are incredible the whole way through, but really shine on Zoom
Out and Kill The Dream (which is awesome since they're back to back on
the album). I've been trying to learn them, but they are tricky!!
Glad I got around to listening to this album. It clears Big Pop For Chameleon World imo ;)
