finished sailor moon last night (turned into a rant involving miraculous ladybug)

i thought the ending was a bit too dark for a magical girl show then i remembered i mostly watch precure magical girl shows and those are the most family friendly an anime could get

i think sailor moon can be weird at times (*weird* moments even tho the characters are 14 and usagi's love interest is 17-18 when shes 14 but its the 90's and in the original manga he was 16 i think) 

i like how the original japanese anime kept the fact that zoisite was a guy and in a relationship with kunzite (another guy) and they kept all the romance. in the english ver they changed zoisite's gender to female bc of censorship but this also made many viewers view him as nonbinary

my friend told me that the anime took out the lesbians that were in the original manga which im v upset abt ngl 

i also dont like the fact that usagi is soooo focused on tuxedo mask and romance and all that. like, obv its a vital part of the show but sometimes all she does is think abt him and stuff esp in the second season bc of what happened between her and tuxedo mask (wont spoil). she's still a good hero and i like her character development but the boy craziness can be toned down a bit... i think magical girl shows like precure shows and sailor moon are focused on female empowerment. the fact that they fight these big bad guys in poofie ruffly skirts and high heels is v nice imo which is why i think usagi shouldnt rely so much on tuxedo mask or now the new male love interest (no spoilers)... then again shes a 14 yr old girl. idk where i was going with this... did my point make sense?

i had the same issue with miraculous ladybug (but at least sailor moon had character development and a personality). i stopped after 2 seasons bc it started off really good til i noticed how weird marinettes crush on adrien is. like, shes so creepy and such a stalker... she knows EVERYTHING about his life... the show doesnt give her any character development and doesnt really focus on parts of her personality or her hobbies (be honest... how many episodes were actually abt her fashion designing and how many were abt adrien?) a lot of show makers and stuff with young heroines (marinette is also 14 i think) make them EXTREMELY crazy abt romance bc theyre like "oh yeah teenage girls are like this its so relatable!" which is true to a certain point (im a teenage girl :D) but i hate when they make it their WHOLE PERSONALITY. 

i got sick of the will-they-wont-they predictable romance and the lack of a good plot and gave up on it.

anyways i luv the show im 6 episodes into the new season and i really like it :3 i recommend ppl watch it. do NOT watch the new one cause i dislike it. its more faithful to the manga but it looks so cheaply made and i honestly prefer the 90's style over.. whatever that was. 

i also recommend watching any precure season. i favorite is go! princess precure :3
