I like the way this website gives you so much freedom with the format- Aaaanyway,
I think I have a fascination with games with dark themes, it's so weird,,
I really enjoyed The Murder Of Sonic, in the sense that it's not only from a childhood franchise but- it moved me because of the way of the writing and the mechanics.
I REALLY like Ultrakill, and I'm playing it a lot, it being an fps game with LOTS of creative freedom for stages in all of the rings and layers of Hell, my only problem being I couldn't bring myself to play Gluttony for...reasons, although it'd be by far the SHORTEST ring, with only TWO layers of gameplay (1 and bossfight).
I ADORE Nights In The Woods, I'm myself a kid who was in a tiny village that's slowly dying off, wanting to go back to some memories of it, in my case I can't go back just yet, but... Yeah.
In STILL the topic of Night In The Woods, I adore how it does mini-games (Guitar AND the damn dungeon game that I'm so obsessed with). The writing is PHENOMENAL, and I got to see events I've never seen with Bea first! Although it DID bring in a bad thing, how I interacted with Gregg, as much as I love him, he was even more...careless. Without the Sword Fight interaction it felt...half forced, but it's incredible how the level of detail is for how every character interacts with each other in different events, it's CRAZY! I also LOVE getting up to see the damn stars, I adore that, and I love the extra content, too (Longest Night, which I played last year, AND wanna replay it; and Constellations! I adore astronomy sm).
There's also something about a mascot horror game that hasn't come out yet? Indigo Park looks so good so far! At least presentation wise since there hasn't been much gameplay footage. There's also the fact it reminds me so much of Dead End Paranormal Park! Mostly the dang mascot of the game. 10/10 Rambley's design, simplistic, good to draw, and amazing animation, as well as effects that sorround them! Besides, them being a racoon is already points extra! Original idea, because not many mascot horror games even USE racoons! Sad, I know. 9/10 on the baked lighting! On the trailer it's 11/10, but one of the screenshots makes me feel uneasy about how the lighting was going? Maybe half of the lights are broken in-game due to the place being abandoned for 8 years, basically (2920 days, as said on the trailer), makes me wanna work on my own stuff/pos.
Not many people talk about this creator enough, but the creator of Venus Looks For Jupiter knows how to make presentations! Both on UltraADHD and VLFJ, the latter was actually WHY I decided to play Ultrakill: the movement, the shooting, the wall-jumping/climbing, the presentation... Although, UltraADHD had a story, VLFJ's is self explanatory. Ultrakill's? Well, it's said after two books: Hell getting tired of Heaven's control, yup. Tho, funnily enough, Lust ring's boss was harder than the story-based boss I went against, why? Because it's harder to try to dodge 2 different attacks in the first phase, meanwhile in the second they throw half of the same and a similar but different attack on the remaining half. Story based villain on the other hand, instead of taking me 37 restarts, took me like, what, 7? Because: 1 you only need to jump in three points, or on other parts of the stage after the boss door and, 2 you only need like 3 guns and an extra one, and uh... I had those (Regular gun, Clingy bullet gun, fire gun cuz desert, and blade gun), then again, I haven't finished it, and I skipped Gluttony like a coward due to phobias.
Another pick to talk about, which is gonna surprise some if you've looked at this list and have NEVER seen me before is this one: Sky: Children Of The Light.
NOT Child Of The Light, which is another game I watched someone else play.
Of course, it's a free multiplayer game that's NOT on windows, but it IS on Switch. Why do I play it? The gameplay mechanics, which is all flying and pressing A, but ALSO following story with more sub-plots as the seasons come and go, That Game Company making a world that is larger and larger each season. It may be all flying, sure, but every action you do makes you PART of a story as YOU, YOU personalize a character that either follows orders or doesn't, AND you can play instruments, the one you most likely like more, ofc. There's not much to say without spoilering, but it has to do with a society of flying elders who went extinct, yes, that's part of the premise. While I could talk hours and hours about this game, it is...fairly simple, but has a conflictive narrative that, while can be clear sometimes cuz they say it to your face, there's times where your impression dictates how you SEE such narrative, it's lovely/pos.
Cult Of The Lamb...Ya'll know it, right?
It's a game where you lead a cult...yeah.
Thing is, this game is more than just some gay ship with the PC and Red from Angry Birds on Twitter, it's WONDERFULLY crafted by a very small, dedicated indie studio. They update it, usually without any bugs, and while it SEEMS inspired from Don't Starve Together, which COULD be...that's not a bad thing. Good story, good character design (most of the time, but it's just due to the style), good character distinction, good narrative, good B-plots, good mini-games...Yes, I'm addicted to Knucklebones. Only issue for me is that...we don't have enough of it! I wonder if the final boss has any cousins or smth.
Ooops, nerdied out for too long! *runs away, idk*
