Hello! This is my first blog post...ever! Not just on SpaceHey but in general. Despite having internet access growing up, I never had unlimited and unrestricted access. That's put me behind on a lot of internet culture and I wanna ask:
How can I catch up?
Is there any chance for someone who's completely outside of alternative* subcultures to catch up and be apart of it?
Where's a good place to start? I have no clue how to style myself, certain actions or ideas to instill on my day to day, or how to even label myself.
For a first blog post, this is quite personal, but I'd love to hear any feedback or discussion.
*"Alternative" here is including emo, scene, goth, etc. I find them all interested and want to be apart of them all, so I'm just going to label them all together as alt

that's a hard part of figuring out, because I've been on the internet for a long time, and there's different subcultures now than there were before crypto started popping up

I think what I'm more interested in is older subcultures, but I don't want to seem out of touch either yk? A mix of modern and old would be nice.

It's fine to be eclectic. There has indeed been a resurgence in emo and scene, goth's getting back up there, lots of alternative folk (ranging from people who prefer flowers and isolation, cottage-oriented, to rivetheads and various other folk, like cybergoths).
(Will say, this is not a formal judgment on where subcultures are, I'm only enumerating a few for idea's sake.) I think in this day and age you can pick and choose, too many people try to gatekeep and that's just... being a poseur. Authenticity is fine, if you derive any sense of accomplishment from it, just, always be keen on exploring influences.
I've been out of that mode for a long time, so I just stick to dark colors, myself. Purples and black. Maybe a teal.

I guess what I'm saying is, it's not too late. Anyone who says otherwise is wasting your time.
