My favorite visual kei substyles !!

Visual kei is a very big umbrella term, so keep in mind that I’m actually a huge fan of…well pretty much EVERY substyle that exists of vkei!

Anyway, here are my personal favorites!

1. Iryou kei

Iryou kei includes lots of medical equipment and things like nurse outfits, lab coats, etc. and it’s usually pretty bloody and has some horror-ish elements to it!

My favorite Iryou kei bands are Sex-Android, +isolation, and LuLu!!

2. Pikopiko kei

Pikopiko kei is somewhat more about the music, although the outfits are hella important too! It's in the name…pikopiko kei has very glitchy and sometimes distorted sound effects, usually sounding like some sort of video game ost!! As for the outfits, they are usually harajuku-inspired with lots of fun accessories!

My favorite pikopiko kei bands are Sandwich de 120 pun? (+ kibouya honpo and comodo a), metronome, and pinokiwo!!

3. Nagoya kei

Nagoya kei is one that I like more for the music than the style, but the style is awesome too! Nagoya kei is a bit hard to explain, but I’ll try my best. Nagoya kei usually includes “darker” elements to it, and can sometimes be a bit more casual than other vkei substyles. The music is pretty chill a lot of the time, although that varies.

My favorite nagoya kei bands are deadman, merry go round, and syster! (also jigokue, but some people don’t consider them to be a nagoya kei band even though eclipse is the most nk song I’ve ever heard tbh)

4. Kote kei

Oh god this is a big one. Ok, so “kote kei” is pretty much the same thing as just oldschool vkei ( mainly  90’s), and if you know me, you know I love love love older vkei bands!!! Kote kei usually has more complicated and decorative outfits and can look a bit rococo era-inspired from what I’ve noticed!

There are way too many kote kei bands that I like, but I’ll TRY to limit it down to three

Raphael, La’cryma Christi, and Baiser??? IDK THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY, HARDCORE KOTE KEI FANS PLS DONT ATTACK ME

Yep those are my top four!! There are so many more so I may or may not make a part two to this blog!!
