I wish I could have extensive daydreams again

This is gonna sound really weird, but when I was in 6th grade, I used to have these daydreams that weren’t just like one time things. They’d all build off each other, and there was an entire backstory to it, and all kinds of different characters (usually taken from my favorite shows or games) with their own storylines, and it was so cool and so much fun! If I was bored, I’d just daydream some new scenario up or finish another one. Idk how to describe it well, but yeah.

For years now I’ve been trying to do it again, either continuing the old storyline or creating a new one, but it never works :( I think it’s partly cuz in 6th grade I didn’t really have friends so I had a lot of time to myself, and now I have great friends and a boyfriend so it’s much harder for me to just stay in my head ig? But being able to go anywhere I want and meet anyone I want, even though it wasn’t real (I hope y’all realize I was never delusional and believed the stuff I thought up was actually happening) was so cool!

I might try again, but idk. Usually after a day I forget about it and all the backstory I came up with
