Daisy X Donald isn’t canonically accurate to duckverse movies

More of a special interest rant then anything but I feel like that’s what SpaceHey is for so y’know- Daisy Duck was created by Carl Barks in 1940- she was inspired by Don Duck a short made by Walt Disney but they have very different characteristics so I don’t count them as the same. Carl Barks made numerous iconic duckverse (especially Ducktales) characters and has by far made the most canonical duckverse media (probably) compared to anyone- Although Donald Duck as a character was made by Walt Disney (and Dick Lundy) point is that Walt Disney (the man and those who worked on Donald Duck media during the time period) interpretation of Donald Duck is at least in my mind more canonical then Carl Barks. Or at least more canonical in Walt Disney movies and TV. EThis my theory for why Daisy Duck doesn’t exactly work in duckverse media; Donald Duck is a character with numerous love interests and him being single is part of the plot in some films and tv. So giving him a ‘finale’ love interest feels odd and out of character personally. Not to mention Daisy isn’t exactly his type as according to Walt Disney films up until the 40s or so anyway. Plus I just find her a bit too mediocre for Donald? She’s either portrayed as ‘helpless’ (in usually more misogynistic media) or stubborn and sometimes flat out abusive(?)the whole defenceless shebang just feels like she’s Donald’s sidekick and not portrayed as her own character with thought and feelings. This is especially jarring since a lot of the time this is Donald’s stick and nobody wants to see two little defenceless sillies try and help each other and fail.Whereas her being a more dominant figure makes sense in contrast to Donald’s characterisation and I enjoy the ‘he asked for no pickles’ vibe but sometimes it’s overdone. I think the worst this got was in Legend Of The Three Caballeros where after Daisy breaks up with Donald she constantly manipulates and gets overly annoyed and bitchy with him over stupid shit. I just don’t like it and I don’t like how it characterises Donald as someone openly taking in these abusive comments and genuinely trying to ‘fix’ what’s wrong. Donald has bad luck and is generally defenceless but he tries and doesn’t stfu. Donald shouldn’t be taking Daisys bullshit he stands up for himself. Donald deserves so much better then Daisy in these portrayals and especially with someone with bad experiences with these sorts of things it actively makes me uncomfortable. A little bit of sass is fine but don’t be straight up pompous especially as a basic bitch. In conclusion: in my heart Walt Disney wrote Donald Duck to be bisexual and to run away together with The Three Caballeros. I was very upset by the DT17 ending in this regard and I will not shut up about it. 3 CABALLEROS WORLD TOUR WHEN!!?!
