The amazing world of Gumball is genius

Like my other blog about Gilmore Girls I love TAWOG (the acronym version of the name) I watch it a lot not much recently but it’s one of those shows that you don’t need to watch that often to appreciate it. I also don’t have Hulu on my phone if I did I would watch it religiously. 

The show if your not familiar is a show created by a guy named Ben Bouqulete (I’m sorry if it’s wrong) well this French guy Ben originally made a bunch of commercials for a company but that company cut him off so he used the ideas from those said commercials to make the show. Starting in 2011 and spanned for 6 seasons and a potential movie that got canceled. The show is about a blue cat (gumball) and and his family and adopted orange fish brother (Darwin). Gumballs family feature his sister a pink rabbit (anis pronounced anne-I-ese) his father who is also a pink rabbit (Richard) and finally their mother a blue cat like gumball (Nicole). The show is about them and their misadventures in a world filled with characters all In different animations styles. Several are 3d animated and 2d it’s hard to name them all but they all have quirks and personalities. One character is a 3d dinosaur and another is a Ben and his girlfriends mouths upside down with arms and google eyes.

One is this character Larry, who looks like he’s made out of paper has a character joke that spans the entire show that he works every job in their town (Elmore). The show is “genius” through its humor and relatability. The show takes relatable topics, 13 year old humor, and tons of pop culture references blends them together and makes a nice smoothie. The show is honestly timeless. 2 episodes that are significantly popular that showcase the genius of the show are, one makes jokes and is self aware about y/n fanfic around the show making a really smart episode kinda making fun of its audience but in a lighthearted way. The second episode is about a ad/show that outright copied the show in character design and format so what did TAWOG do? They made fun of it of course and have an episode about it again a genius show. By the way the episodes are called (the copycats) (the shippening)

There are tons of video essays about this topic that go so much more in deep but if you never thought of watching TAWOG I hope this was a sign to go watch it.
